Spring Festival Gala

Started in 1983, the Spring Festival Gala has the largest audience of any entertainment show in the world, and is recognized by Guinness World Records as the world’s most watched television program. The Gala normally runs for about four hours on the eve of Chinese New Year, and includes songs, dances and comedy acts that highlights China’s provinces and various ethnic groups. It will also focus on national heroes and key government projects. On every new year’s eve, Chinese families will gather together in front of the television to watch those performances. The Gala adds a mood of celebration and It has become an ingrained tradition on Mainland China to celebrate the new year.
