Limewire Loses to RIAA
October 26, 2010
Embroiled in a copyright battle with the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for almost four years, Limewire finally lost, and subsequently shut down. The last popular file sharing site to be ousted, Limewire gave way to the current era of streaming services--services that have a lot less to do with sharing music and a lot more to do with compiling it for individual use. Spotify, as sites like Limewire were phased out, launched on 10/7/08.
